Rookies in the Pro Bowl
Lacey Corel – FSPN Correspondent
The Pro Bowl is coming over a week away; an exhibition game that features veterans and rookies that have excelled in their field and/or are fan favorites. For this story, we will not focus on the veterans; instead we will focus on a number of rookies and the chances that they will make it to the Pro Bowl.
United Conference
Not much can be said about this retriever except that he is the jack of all trades for a quarterback. His running game is just as good as his passing game. If he does not make it to the Pro Bowl, then expect to see him more during the next season.
(TEX) Jacqueline Knight - WR - Grey Dragon
Being the number one pick for the draft should mean that people should expect something good from you. For Miss Jackie Knight she has managed to leave a nice sized footprint on the wide receiver position. And as the years pass on, this dragon can only improve. As far as the Pro Bowl, she may miss the cut by not that many votes.
(DWN) WR - Alex Kangaroo - Kangaroo
Alex doesn’t stand out as a good wide receiver over the other players in the list; but in the postseason, especially the Fur Bowl, he blew up as a punt returner. If he makes it in the all-star squad, he could be placed as a punt return. Who knows; he might even make it to the end zone.
(DWN) RB - Samantha Castora - Beaver
For a rookie, this beaver made a huge leap into the league. 12 rushing touchdowns, 3 receiving touchdowns, and no fumbles; no one had expected Castora to be on the top of the stat books in just one year. This is another candidate that will make it easily in the Pro Bowl.
(NF) DL - Kennith Shrader - Dog- German Shepherd
The Shredder; enough said. A notorious defensive lineman in one of the most feared defensive team, this German Shepherd makes sure no one goes past five yards when they meet him. Even after sitting out a few weeks with a concussion, his game has not changed at all. A definite shoo in.
(LV) CB - Coby Carson - Fox - Fennec
Love him or hate him, this corner back is making moves on the football field and is known as part of the ‘Fantastic Five’ of the Las Vegas defense. The main concerns about him are outside the stadium, where his antics brought mass destruction. How the fans react to these antics will be the difference in him making the squad.
(LV) LB - Kelley Rowe - Raccoon
Another member of the Las Vegas ‘Fantastic Five, Kelley Is known to make plays when you least expect it. With the number of tackles made in the season, she would make for a solid choice in the Pro Bowl. To be honest, we should see all of the ‘Fantastic Five’ make It to the all-star event.
Continental Conference
(FAR) QB - Flip Penguinator - Penguin - Adelie
Flip started strong in the first half of the season but seemed to slow down at the second half. In the end, he helped bring Fargo make it to the postseason where he was promptly benched for Christina Carson. Still, the penguin has what it takes to be an all-star.
(CAL) QB - Joe Bowers - Tiger
Following a back and forth battler for position with Darnell Paige, Joe ended up playing more of the season. However, his play calls are as tricky as what he does outside the field. With the number of quarterback options on the ballot, there is a good chance that this tiger will be in the deep reserve if he is invited.
(CAL) LB - Artemis Griner - Jaguarundi
Another fearful person to see in the defense is this jaguarondi. She is as fierce as Shrader; maybe more since she is one of the few females in the league and that she has an impressive number of sacks on her rookie season. Be on the lookout for her at the Pro Bowl.
(ABI) CB - Pat Snow - Horse
Being on the top of the list for Passes Defended, this horse helped the Abilene Lancers become the top defensive team for the Continental Conference, where their stat numbers nearing that of the North Florida Renegades. It is very likely Pat will be added to the squad.
(BAL) QB - Aspen Redfield Deer - Red
Rookie of the year; Most Valuable Player for the season, and overall the best quarterbuck, there is absolutely no reason that Aspen should not be in the Pro Bowl. It would be more surprising if he didn’t make it as captain of the Continental Conference.
(BAL) K - Virginia Pratt - Cheetah
Another one of the few females in the UFFL, Virginia Pratt seemed to spend her life kicking; and it brings good results to the Baltimore Ponies. Even after a shunted kick one game, she still manages to bring herself together and focus on the game. She will be great to see at the all-star game.
